“Thinking will not overcome fear, but action will”.
Emotions: Understanding, Controlling Them.

“We might be the masters of our own thoughts, still we are the slaves of our own emotions”.
In every relationship, friendship or alliance that is ever destroyed there are two aspects to it, every time. With two aspects come into picture two people, two souls who at times are totally parallel to each other or are connected deeply to each other. It is said that if you still friends with your ex, it was either because you never were in love at the first or you still are. Understanding emotions is as difficult as understanding life in general. Coming back to the two aspects, one is the emotional one ( The one who is always hurt after the breakup), the second one if the manipulator ( The on who plays the victim but has everything under his control). I feel the following incident would help you relate to this in a much better manner.
For the following example I’ll make use of two random names that I’ve come up with one would be Rob and the other one would be Jason.
It is believed that the two of them were the best of friends, whenever somebody had to give an example of an ever-lasting friendship the name that popped up into everyone’s head was of Rob and Jason. Rob, was an amazing person, he had all the qualities of an ideal person, he was intelligent, hardworking, caring and open minded, but his downfall was that he was an emotional fool, most of the times his emotions took over his intelligence. On the contrary, Jason, was a care-free, lazy, sloppy guy who in all honesty was an emotional manipulator, he knew exactly how to gain sympathy, love and affection from others through his sob stories. Another thing that he knew very well was because of Rob’s emotional side he could easily manipulate him, since gaining his trust solely on the basis of sympathy was elementary .
Every time Jason had a problem he ran off to Rob to get advice or should I say to make him fall in his trap? Rob, like any good friend, used to help him out as much as he could. He used to treat Jason’s problems like his very own problems. Slowly and steadily their friendship strengthened, Rob still was on the receiving end of his manipulation, until one day when he realized that he’s being taken for a ride by Jason, he understood that Jason’s only reason to become friend’s with him was for sympathy and manipulation since such people love to have control over someone or the other.
Time came and Rob told him that he could not do it anymore and as soon as he said that, Jason showed his true colors, he said you’re not worthy enough of being my friend, you do not deserve to live, just get away from me. With this, Rob understood that he had been used by Jason, and he was only loyal until the time his work of emotionally controlling him was going on.
It’s been more than six months since this has happened, and just like what happens in any relationship, the same has happened between these two buddies, Rob on one hand went through a depression, still hasn’t moved on and is still trying to figure out as to what went wrong whereas on the contrary, Jason has been happy ever since as if nothing of this sort ever happened.
This happens in every relationship, we tend to get carried away by our emotions which in turn reflect in our actions, doing things that used to make us happy, no longer makes us happy. Our entire perception changes when our emotions change, if we’re sad our entire body language reflects that and vice-versa. With this comes the judgement of our colleagues, friends, peers and family as we tend to lose ourselves in trying to understand out emotions. I do realize that it’s hard, it genuinely is but when it’s about time, it’s about time. We have to take a stand for ourselves and move on with our lives, and let go of any such past incidents that our holding us back.
I’d like to give you some solutions that I personally used while going through a depression, trust me they make you feel better.
- Exercise: This is the best thing that you can do to yourself, both mentally as well as physically. Not only does it release serotonin( the happy hormone), it also helps you to calm yourself doubt with the added benefit of staying fit.
- Hobby: Taking up a new hobby is one of the easiest ways to distract yourself, since you get to learn something new so you’re more than curios already, along with that you tend to meet new people who in turn help you out unknowingly during your warrior stage.
- Meditation: Sitting down for thirty minutes a day without doing anything and just focusing on your breath not only helps you to relax, let go of your worries it comes with the added benefit of feeling inner peace and increased focus.
- Going Out: This is the easiest way to fight your battle. I know, while going through such a tough period of time you don’t even want to get out of your bed, but trust me when you get out of the house and meet new people, you tend to gather a lot of experience along with releasing of your tension into the environment.
With that being said, I’d like to talk about how emotional manipulators actually play their game, without you even realizing that:
- They make you feel guilty: Haven’t we all come across people who despite we doing everything for them, put the blame on us, like always? Yes, I’m talking about the ones who come up with every excuse in the book. This is one of the most common traits prevalent among-st these people.
- They lie about everything: Even for the simplest facts as to having food, they’re just wired in that way. Regardless of how easy it would be to speak the plain truth, they love to put in lies, they’re insecure, so it makes them feel better, is the only possible explanation that I could have come up with.
- They are always the victim: They make you feel that instead of they controlling you, they’re the ones being controlled by you, which again destroys normal human beings like us. Regardless of what happens, they end up blaming themselves and showing that they’re the ones being victimized. This is partially due to the fact that they can’t take up any personal responsibility.
- Their actions never match their words: These people would flatter you with their words, gain your trust and sympathy, make unrealistic promises, which they obviously never fulfill, not because they forget it, but because they never intended to follow through it in the very first place.
Coming to controlling your emotions, this by far is one of difficult things in life to master. But by following the tried and tested techniques mentioned below, it’ll definitely help you to jump from a beginner to an intermediate.
- Replace your thoughts: One of the easiest ways to take control of your emotions is to replace your negative thoughts with positive ones. In the starting you might feel as though it’s not working out, but trust me once you did it for 4-5 times a day for about twenty odd days it’ll get stuck up into your subconscious and you’ll feel a lot better, about you, yourself and this beautiful world.
- See the bigger picture: It is said that anything that you experience is either a blessing or a lesson, if it’s the later remember the wisdom that you gained from your experience and use it as a motivation to work harder than ever before.
- Do something productive: Go hit the gym or take the martial arts class that you’ve always wanted to take because, my friend, this is the best way to vent out your frustration and let go of your uncontrollable emotions.
- Don’t react immediately: It is believed that if your saying something isn’t better than breaking the silence may as well keep silent. The same is with your emotions, you should first understand what the other person has said to you and not take it as an attack on your personal worth, next take a deep breath and respond, only if necessary.
How does it feel to truly be an empath?

Have you ever laughed/smirked at that person who’s way too emotional that he/she ends up crying either while watching a movie, listening to a podcast or soon after finishing their book?
Yes, we all have. More often than not we’ve personally looked down upon them thinking they’re mentally if not emotionally weak.
But what I’m about to tell you now, is the total opposite of what you’ve believed to be true about them.
These certain set of people who feel others’ emotions, and know that others’ emotions are as value as their own, are the strongest people you’ll ever come across, hey, but wait, you thought crying was equivalent to being weak, right?
Oh hell no, these certain people have this thing which you obviously don’t seem to have called, ’empathy’. These people are known as empaths’.
But what is an empath?
A person with the paranormal ability to perceive the mental or emotional state of another individual.
Which basically means a person who is selfless, a person who cares about others and their feelings, a person who understands the grief in others.
But what triggers them to cry while watching a movie?
Being an empath they tend to understand the feelings of even a fictional character, they feel the emotions either because of their high level of understanding or because they tend to associate that pain with their past.
But their biggest plus point along with being considerate is that they know how to separate fiction from reality and that’s what makes them unstoppable! And that is exactly why you should respect that empath friend of yours and never let them go.
How do you come to know whether or not you’re an empath?
1. Empaths are highly sensitive.
Empaths are naturally giving, spiritually open, and good listeners. If you want heart, empaths have got it. Through thick and thin, these world-class nurturers will be there for you. But they can easily have their feelings hurt, too: Empaths are often told that they are “too sensitive” and need to “toughen up.”
2. Empaths absorb other people’s emotions.
Empaths are highly attuned to other people’s moods, good or bad. They feel everything, sometimes to an extreme. They take on negativity such as anger or anxiety, which can be exhausting for them. If they are around peace and love though, their bodies take these on and flourish.
3. A lot of them are introverts.
Empaths become overwhelmed in crowds, which can amplify their empathy. They tend to be introverted and prefer one-to-one contact or small groups. Even if an empath is more extroverted they may prefer to limit how much time they spend in a crowd or at a party.
The third being ambiverts, they like to hang out only within their circle, which usually is small, as they prefer quality over quantity.
4. Empaths are highly intuitive.
Empaths experience the world through their intuition. It is important for them to develop their intuition and listen to their gut feeling about people. This helps empaths find positive relationships and avoid energy drainers or vampires as you may have heard of.
5. Empaths need alone time.
As super-responders, empaths find being around people can be draining, so they periodically need time alone to recharge. Even a brief escape prevents emotional overload. For example, empaths like to take their own cars when they go places so they can leave when they please.

Cristiano Ronaldo bags hattrick as Real Madrid defeat Atletico Madrid: 3-0

One of the two most highly anticipated derbies in Spanish League Football, the Atletico De Madrid vs Real Madrid proved to be more of a one sided affair, more than that one man’s affair, who else? Cristiano Ronaldo.
The last derby being played at the Vicente Calderon, personally to me was an amazing one. The match got off to a start with ATM dominating the game, but 20 minutes into it up until half time, the game was all about Real.
Beautiful build up play by Marcelo nearly ended up into a fine goal by Cristiano Ronaldo, only to see his stunning header get denied by Juan Oblak. That didn’t disappoint him though, since he continued his destruction on the opposition, creating chance after change, one of the highlights of the game was his brilliant turn up against Oblak after which he couldn’t connect the shot at goal.
The first goal though came with a hint of luck as Ronaldo, taking the free kick struck the wall but it was deflected into the back of the net by Savic, giving Real the first goal of the game, and as usual he celebrated it in classic Ronaldo style. Antoine Griezmann didn’t have much of an impact in the first half and neither did Gareth Bale.
First half performers were : Marcelo, Isco and Ronaldo.
Into the second half we went and as expected Atletico started of by creating chance after chance with the help of Griezmann and Carassco, Griezmann missed a tough chance against Navas which would have levelled it up against Real.
Isco’s pass and Ronaldo was through only to be taken down by Savic, resulting in a penalty. On one hand we had arguably the best penalty taker in the world and on the other, undoubtedly La Liga’s best keeper, Oblak, the winner? Ronaldo. A clinical finish down to the right hand side of the keeper, the celebration? Of a true thinker.
And to put the final nail to the coffin, Bale with his brilliant run crossed it onto Ronaldo who finished it off with ease, thereby scoring yet another hattrick in his ever glittering career.
Every time this man is written off he comes up with an even better performance, to sum it up it was a special day was both Real Madrid and Ronaldo as Madrid went 4 points adrift of second placed Barcelona and Ronaldo grabbed a magnificent hattrick.
Four Things To Do Before You Die
1. Start living a life of passion and adventure
A lot of us tend to dream about the so called,”Perfect Life”, wonder as to how we shall achieve it, but the disgrace to it? We stop with planning in our heads, the first and foremost thing to live your life passionately, along with adventure is to, “Take Action”.
There are a variety of things that you can do, if you are genuinely interested in changing your life, don’t worry, I’ve complied a list for you.

- Just Do It: Yes, as soon as you’re done making a plan for as to how you’re supposed to achieve your goal, start, you ask when? Now! If you don’t do it right away, you never will, it’ll get dumped right into your subconscious just like the other 10000 ideas, that you never tried. If you feel like starting a business or writing a book, do it, ” NOW”. Would it be perfect? No, you’ll go through a lot of pain and struggle, would it be a hit? Maybe. But would it be rewarding? Most definitely.
- What to do when you start facing challenges: Swim, yes do exactly just that. Instead of getting trapped by your fears or limitations, prepare yourself to be the A player, go out, struggle, learn, but never stop. Keep going forward, always.
- Get rid of expectations: If for example, you want to live in a country for a couple of months, do not carry any expectations beforehand. Don’t expect ‘A’ to be the starry place that you’ve seen in movies, because my friend, that is reel but this is real. Don’t have any preconceived notions about the place, go ahead and live the life you’ve always wanted to live.
- Make Mistakes: Yes, because if you do not try, you’ll never learn, and if you’ll never learn you’ll never be able to grow. Make as many mistakes as possible, if for instance you’re learning a new language don’t be afraid of people judging you, rather feel obliged, cause it is because of them that you’ll be able to improve at it, when they correct your grammar or pronunciation.
- Live in a constant state of wonder: Generally, after living in a place for 2 years we tend to get bored, acclimatized to the place. Our wander-y vision tends to fade away, this, needs to stay, for there are still a lot of places that you’re yet to discover, so put on those curios glasses of yours and start exploring.
- Stay in touch with your loved ones: This, I believe is the most important of all the aforementioned ways to live your life passionately, you need to spend as much time, give as much time as you can to your loved ones, the ones who believe in you, the ones who make you feel special, for if it wasn’t for them you wouldn’t be where you currently are. Appreciate everything that they’ve done for you, make them feel special, make them feel loved.
2. Get To Know Yourself.

In a world where we’re pressurized to be everything else, except for the truest and the purest versions of ourselves, its crucial to shed light on such an important topic. Most of us tend to get carried away or succumb to the coerce that’s coming onto us from all four corners of the room.
In a generation where even before you’re born your career is decided by either your parents, family or society, it’s important to follow your dreams and passions, more importantly chase them relentlessly and grow into the person that would accomplish all these things. We tend to compare ourselves with our siblings, peers or friends, this leaves our self esteem in absolute shambles.
We feel by comparing ourselves to others’ helps us in a positive way as in we realize what else are we supposed to do in order to accomplish ‘that’ dream of ours. It, honestly isn’t that easy, since in doing so we draw fear, negativity and jealously towards us. Till the time we don’t let go of the feeling of comparison, the feeling of insecurity and the feeling of hatred we’d never be able to reach our full potential.
In order to become the best versions of ourselves, follow our passion, I suggest you to follow these little things:
You do not need to justify your worth:

Always remember this, your worth is unjustifiable. Even if you’re the worst player on your team always remember that you’re worthy, your presence in itself makes a really big difference to this universe, actually you yourself are an entire universe.
Don’t ever do ‘A’, thinking as though it’ll make you more worthy, that’s simply stupid. All you’ve gotta do is, follow your heart and the people who genuinely want to stay with you; the ones that actually matter would come and stay.
Try different things

You’ve got only one life so stop living it as though you’re gonna live it twice, more so forever. Try as many things as you possibly can, engage yourself into a variety of activities because you never know you might discover a totally different and unique side of you, when you do so.
That thing might just be your special talent, and maybe you might become the superstar of your generation. So never stop trying things because at the end of the day you’ll regret the chances you never took instead of the ones you did.
Let go of expectations .
The day you’ll let go of expecting things, for instance how your dream university would be like or how that one place would be like, you’d have freed your mind of a huge burden. Don’t have expectations at all, accept life gracefully and you’ll be good to go, more importantly take everything with a pinch of salt.
Take care of yourself
When you feel it’s too much or you’re just overly exhausted, honestly step aside from all that, and take a break. For a day or day, do whatever you like to do, for me to writing a blog or reading a good is inspirational book, label it as your day. It’s gotta be all about you, like travelling go out and hike, meet people, have fun, share your experiences with them, they’ll do the same in return and you’d have gained or learnt a lot more as well as had your dose of relaxation. Never be ashamed of taking care of yourself, remember, it always was, is and will be about you.

Fitting in is overrated.
Trust me on this one, everyone of us feel that it’s necessary to be part of that popular group. No it isn’t, be different, have a small circle, be with people who make you feel loved, who make you feel uplifted, cause they are the ones who actually matter, others as you say will disappear with time.
Stop living in the past
Keep moving forward, always. Nothing grows in the past except for fear, insecurity and resentment. Forget the things that have happened to you in the past, keep the lesson handy, make efforts to work upon yourself and live like as per your wishes. It’s your life and yours only, if you want to start that business you’ve always dreamt of, there’s no better time then, now.
3. Read

One of the best things that you’ll to do your soul, mind, body and most importantly yourself is, read. Reading helps you in a variety of ways which I’d be stating below, but personally, reading biographies is my forte I’ll tell you why. It’s because you tend to gain the knowledge of a 40, 50 year old individual in just a few hours, realize how much experience you can gain even if you read five biographies in a year that too without having to experience those things at your own expense.
The following I believe are the benefits of reading:
Free Entertainment:
Reading is the best form of entertainment that you can ever get, and the best part:it’s free or at least it’s nominal. All you have to do is go down to your nearest library, pick up the book of your genre and kaboom you’re stuck to it for a good whole day.
Afraid, you’re travelling and might lose the book, no worries, a lot of the libraries nowadays have the facilities of having to read the books in a PDF format, if, even that doesn’t suit you just download a free e-book.
The best part about reading is the vast amount of books that you can avail, they are literally uncountable. Ranging from action to literature to science, books contain all the information in the world, most importantly it doesn’t discriminate it has content for each and everyone out there.
Mental Stimulation:
This is, I believe the most important benefit of reading, your brain just like you exercise your body needs mental stimulation, training your mind more importantly stimulating your mind is essential. Science also proves that reading prevents you from Alzheimer as well. It also makes you think more analytically and keeps you focused and curious.

Stress Reduction:
This is precisely why I read. Even if you don’t want to start reading for the variety of it’s pros, do it for this one alone. Reading helps us in reducing our stress, how it does that I’m afraid, I can’t explain cause I’m not a psychologist. But involving yourself in a good novel or an interesting article takes you away from all your worries and transports your mind into a peaceful dimension.
Knowledge
Reading helps you grasp a lot of new information, not only that since you’re more well equipped by reading you gain the maturity as well as experience in terms of tackling a new challenge. God forbid this never happens to anyone of you, but consider a hypothetical situation wherein you’re stripped of your job, someone steals all your money and destroys your health, but that person can never take away even a tiny bit of your knowledge away from you, no matter what.

Vocabulary Expansion:
Another positive of reading is that it helps you to expand your vocabulary, no matter what you do even if you spare thirty minutes of your time in a day to read,I guarantee that it would expand your vocabulary to new horizons.
It not only helps you in boosting up your self esteem, but also gives you a greater chance to win an argument as well as become a more qualified sarcastic person. It’s a fact that, people with good vocabulary get promoted at a faster rate as compared to somebody who’s not so good at communication.
Improves Memory:
One of the best things reading can do for you is help in improving your memory. You ask how on earth does this happen? Suppose, you read a novel, you’ll obviously tend to remember the background, location, characters as clearly and vividly as you can, in doing so you make your brain function at a whole new level, which it does with ease and improves your short term memory as well as focus.
Improves Concentration:
In a world full of notifications, multitasking and backlog we tend to not focus on the things that are important which leads to procrastination. This, I believe, is another form of ADD, but how reading helps you with this is, at the time of reading a novel you tend to focus only on the story-line and nothing else, this shifts your focus solely onto one thing- The Story Line, which in turn improves your focus as well as betters your concentration, try reading a book for twenty minutes before going to office and you’ll see how much more focused and efficient you are throughout the day.
Stronger Analytical Skills:
Have you ever read an amazing mystery novel, and solved the mystery yourself before finishing the book? If so, you were able to put critical and analytical thinking to work by taking into account the little details provided to you by the author.
That same ability to analyze details also comes in handy when it comes to critiquing the plot; determining whether it was a well-written piece, if the characters were properly developed, etc. If you ever have an opportunity to discuss the book with others, you’ll be able to state your opinions clearly, as you’ve taken the time to really consider all the aspects involved.
4. Help People

In today’s world people go with the motto of you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours. Nope, it doesn’t always go like that, I know we live in a society wherein people only help you out keeping in mind the advantage that you’d provide them with.
But, I’ll give you three reasons as to why you should help others and expect nothing in return:

- You’ll make unusual friends: What I mean by this is not that you’ll make weird or strange friends, rather there’d be unexpected friendships coming your way. I’ll tell you a secret, when someone helps the other person without expecting anything in return, it is reflected in their behavior and other people do observe this as well as take a note of it. In doing so you’ll attract better people towards yourself, friendships would occur out of the blue, and those people would soon start playing an integral role in your life.
- You’d view life from a different perspective: By helping others’ you look at life through their shoes and eyes, by doing so you’ll gain a variety of experience, learn new things and start looking at the world in a totally different way. It will, I believe change your perception of this beautiful world.
- Gratitude: By viewing things from others’ perspective and helping them out without a purpose, would make you realize how much they value things which you take granted for, this in turn would develop a feeling of gratitude within you, you’d naturally start loving yourself and do good for the people. Always remember, what goes out, comes back, so remember to do the good.
Here’s how to do it:
1. Join a group: Why? Because in order to help a lot of people, you’d have to exposed to a wide assortment of such people. This is the best way to go about it. Talk to people with similar interests, ask them about their problems and see how can you help them work it out.

2. Go out: This is the easiest way, go out talk to people in bars, develop a certain rapport and ask them how things are shaping up in their lives and see where you can make a difference in theirs.
3. Small Talk, Big Wonders: The next time you’re standing next to someone in a grocery store, instead of just tapping your foot in frustration for your turn to come, just ask the person in the like standing behind you, how’s their day going, you do that everyday it’s a certainty that you’ll develop a deeper connection with a few of them along with helping them, if the need comes by.
How to overcome emotional pain?
One of the most terrifying and agonising things are when you lose a loved one, for instance your boyfriend, your best friend or your colleague, emotionally.
It happens to a lot of people, your relationship falls apart for no specific reason as such because of which you get hurt emotionally. At times, you break down into pieces.
For months gone you’re still hurt, it’s fine, because the subconscious takes at least 6-8 months to let something you were emotionally connected to, go. You feel hurt because you miss the person, you’re unable to find their replacement, you miss those memories, either late night or early morning ones, the most.
You miss each and every bit of your relationship, this I know is very challenging, intoxicating as well as hard. To make this a tad easier for you I’ve got you five techniques through which overcoming your emotional pain could be relatively easier.
Talk to a friend.
A friend as in a close friend, a person whom you can trust. This person has gotta be your go to person when you’re down.
It’s kinda venting out your frustration, sharing your true emotions. Why is this person supposed to be close to you as well as trustworthy?
Because you’re going to share with him every minute detail, he’ll be the one who’ll calm you down, if h isn’t trustworthy he might use your weakness against you.
Another reason why talking to your loved ones is calming because they understand you, they’ll never judge you, more importantly they’ll encourage as well as motivate you.
Connect with nature.
This is my personal favourite. Connecting with nature is the best thing that you can do to your mind, soul and your body. Go for a stroll, listen to an audio book or a conciliating rhyme. Touch the ground, feel the air blowing pass you, indulge amidst the sweet smelling flowers.
Don’t only observe Mother Nature coddle deep within it; it’ll make you realise how beautiful other things in this world are, how grateful you truly are to be born on this lovely planet, it’ll help you forget your fears/emotions and get mesmerised in your environment.
Be on the move.
Whether it’s that yoga or karate class that you’ve always been wanting to take, there’s no better time to do it then now.
It’ll not only help you forget, get past your emotions it’ll always release your stress, keep your mind and body fit, you might make a friend or two as well. What exercising does to your body is make it strong and to your mind is: it releases the happy hormone and makes you feel amazing. So the next time you get trapped by your emotions go out and swear it out!
Rest.
Contrary from the popular belief of working out when you’re broken down, another research backed up by science says that the best way to keep you going is to indulge in reading, doing something that doesn’t require physical exercise, gaining some knowledge and following your indoor passions.
This helps you to stay focused, keep your mind healthy and makes you let go of your emotions. You might find a friend in one of your followers if you’re a blogger, who’ll help you get rid of your thoughts.
Maintaining a journal.
Maintaining a journal is the best thing that you can do to yourself. It helps you cleanse your mind by disposing of all your thoughts, fears as well as your emotions.
Your journal can become your best friend provided you write it everyday. It’s the best medium through which you can vent out your frustration.
One more thing you can do is write things that you want to do/achieve or become, this will in turn can registered in your sub conscious mind provided you reflect upon it and do it every single day for a certain amount of time.
I hope these techniques would prove to be beneficial for you, if you think this post helped you in any way don’t forget to hit the like button, have your say in the comments section down below as well as share this post with your colleagues, friends and family :).
Thanks for reading the post! Have a nice day :).
India Vs New Zealand: Kohli Masterclass Gives India The Series Lead.
What followed next was yet another Kohli-Dhoni masterclass as they created havoc at the Mohali cricket ground thrashing the Kiwi bowlers to all parts of the ground.
They studded together a partnership of 151 runs with Dhoni, the aggressor smashing 80 of 91 balls along with 6 fours and 3 sixes, though he was dismissed he had played the captain’s role.
Match Info: After leveling the series in the previous match, The Kiwis were looking to take a lead in the five match one day international series whereas India was looking to bounce back after they suffered an agonizing loss at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Cricket Stadium, Delhi.
Squad Info: India went into the match unchanged whereas New Zealand initiated one change in the form of all rounder, Neesham who came in, in place of Devicich keeping in mind the green, fast paced, Mohali wicket.
Toss: Dhoni after winning the toss, without hesitation opted to field first keeping in mind the dew factor that would come into play at a later stage.

Kiwi Innings
The Kiwi openers Martin Guptill and Tom Latham got their team off to a flying start with Guptill being the aggressor of the two as he smashed 2 sixes and 2 fours before he was trapped LBW by a Yadav masterpiece.
The in-form Kiwi captain, Williamson came in to replace Martin, he too perished after a fine cameo of 22 runs. The platform of the Kiwi innings was going to be set by the following partnership knit between Tom Latham and Ross Taylor.
With his team at a decent position at 80-2, the tone was set for the out-of-form Ross Taylor to get back into form and that’s exactly what he did as the Kiwi duo stitched together a 73 run partnership before Ross was dismissed by a Mishra beauty for 44 runs, his innings, studded with 4 fours and one six, in the meanwhile his partner, Latham, got to a half century.

The Kiwis from a 153-3 fell like bowling pins to a 199-8, with the part-timer Jadhav & leg spinner Mishra inflicting the damage.

What followed next was a run feast by all rounder Neesham and fast bowler Matt Henry as they re-stabilized the New Zealand innings in a crucial 84 run partnership before Neesham, who scored a beautifully poised 57 of 47 balls studded with 7 fours was dismissed along with pacer Trent Boult in quick succession by Umesh and Bumrah respectively.
From India’s point of view the key performers with the ball were: Umesh Yadav and Kedar Jadhav who took 3 wickets apiece though Yadav was very expensive giving away 75 runs in his quota of 10 overs.
It was a very respectable total that was set up by this formidable Kiwi side that had managed to reach the 2015 World Cup, the platform was set for Kohli to shine, yet again. You ask why? 1. Because India heavily reply on this batting maestro. 2. He’s a run machine. 3. He’s the best finisher in the world.
Indian Innings’
India needed their openers, Sharma and Rahane to get them off to a good start but they did the exact opposite of that as both of them were dismissed in quick succession.
Now, the pressure was on the Test Captain aka India’s batting star, Kohli & the Indian captain, Dhoni.
As you say the big players perform extraordinarily well under pressure these two legends did exactly that as it was evident by the fact that both Kohli & Dhoni were cool as cucumbers and knew they were in for the long run.
What followed next was yet another Kohli-Dhoni masterclass as they wrecked havoc at the Mohali cricket ground thrashing the Kiwi bowlers to all parts of the ground.
They studded together a partnership of 151 runs with Dhoni, the aggressor smashing 80 of 91 balls along with 6 fours and 3 sixes, though he was dismissed he had played the captain’s role.

The responsibility to take India across the line was on superstar Kohli and that’s exactly what he did as he went on to form an unbeaten 97 run partnership with Manish Pandey and in doing so remained unbeaten at 154 runs of just 134 balls studded with 16 fours and one six, the highlight of his innings being the 22 runs he hit in just one over of Trent Boult.

Virat Kohli, for his unbeaten 154 was rightly adjudged the Man of the Match.
There were a variety of records broken in this run scintillating, sensational run chase:

MS Dhoni became the second player after Sourav Ganguly to reach 9000 runs with the help of a six.
This is only the second instance when New Zealand has had two 50+ stands in a series for the 9th wicket, since the 1983 World Cup.
14 – The number of hundreds by Virat Kohli in successful run-chases. With the hundred in Mohali, Kohli also equaled Sachin Tendulkar’s world record of scoring the highest number of hundreds while chasing that resulted in a victory.
16 – The number of hundreds by Virat Kohli while chasing. He’s second in the list, after Sachin Tendulkar, who has scored 17 hundreds in 232 innings. Kohli, on the other hand took just 94 innings to do so.
Wishing luck to both the teams for the remainder of the series.
